As your Sheriff, I take great pride in working alongside the Knox County School System to provide a safe environment for our children. Our schools should be a safe place to learn and allow children to thrive. I am proud to say Knox County has some of the best educators and schools in the state of Tennessee! I have become friends with many of our Knox County School staff and know personally about their dedication to helping children succeed.
One thing as Sheriff I pride myself on is communication with all aspects of the Knox County School System. Providing security is a team effort that begins with education and staff awareness along with a healthy relationship with Knox County School Security Division.
I am proud to say that the Knox County Sheriff’s Office School Patrol division is the largest shift of any other patrol shift with seasoned, veteran officers. As I review our School patrol lineups, I am proud to say we have MORE officers in schools than we did five years ago ( March 2017, there were 30 officers with supervisors / March 2022, there are currently 31 officers with supervisors ). These officers not only patrol your children’s schools but develop relationships with the over 85 Knox County School Security Officers to give Knox County over 115 officers between both agencies protecting our children.
School security and the safety of our children always has been and always will be a top priority. I will continue cultivating an excellent working relationship with the Knox County School Security Division and our own Knox County School patrol officers.
Our men and women at the Knox County Sheriff’s Office are some of the most dedicated, hard-working people I know. They value our children and are passionate about their safety.
