Community Safety
The safety of our Knox county citizens is something that I make my top priority as your Sheriff. Did you know that through the pandemic, we have had more patrolmen patrolling your subdivisions looking for any suspicious activity. We utilized patrol officers usually assigned to the school division as additional patrol units. When schools switched to virtual, we implemented our neighborhood safety plan by having the additional patrol officers conduct more subdivision and property checks while many people were working from home or virtual learning.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office strives to have more patrol officers and continue our safe neighborhood watch programs, as well as the Senior Citizens Awareness Network (SCAN), which visits explicitly the elderly in our community. We bring proven programs and modern technology together to serve the citizens of Knox County better.
Did you know you can access a map that shows calls for service in your area at our community crime map located at communitycrimemap.com
We look forward to you interacting with the tools our IT, and Digital Intelligence Units have created and work on continuously to depict live crime statistics in your area accurately.
Remember, if you or someone you know is a victim of a crime, it is essential to file a report. Filing a police report helps us keep accurate statistics and reveal crime patterns. Your safety will continue to be my priority.
As always, I am honored to serve as your Sheriff,
-Tom Spangler
